Henna Haarala (b. 1998) is a set designer and creative director. Her work spans both commercial and creative worlds; from ephemeral spaces like pop-ups, dinner sets, and movie sets to visual identities, branding and printed publications.
Henna’s academic background is in Interior Architecture (major) and Aesthetics and Media (minor). During these five years of study, she deepened her design know-how while also completing an internship at the multidisciplinary design studio Toogood in London as a spatial design intern, working on set and prop design.
Building bridges between the unexpected is one of Henna’s greatest strengths. She thrives in ambiguity and is characterised by an inability to do things half-heartedly. She treats each project with meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on materiality and narrative, carrying this approach from early concept and production through to on-site execution and the final outcome.
Henna also reveals herself through a passion for culinary arts, fragrance, lifestyle objects, and shedding light on other designers and artists through her work. She values multidisciplinary collaboration and meaningful connections.
Henna has the keys to an apartment in Helsinki, but her other foot is always on the doorstep. Henna can be commissioned to work both in Helsinki and around the world.
